Happy Mother's Day! Read the signs...

Catherine Got Baptized!

To start off, I want to congratulate Caroline on granduating from High school this week! I'm sorry I won't be there to cheer you on, but on Thursday I will for sure be thinking of you! It's weird feeling, I know. But, its so awesome so I hope you enjoy every second of it!

This week was good. The most excting news is that Catherine was baptized yesterday! It didn't seem like it because she was baptized up in Chicago. But, the missionaries up there texted us after the service and told us that it went very well. I'm so excited for her to come back next Wednesday! Now that she is baptized the next person to make the same commitment is Greg. He is praying about the 2nd of June. I know he will be ready by then if you puts his mind to it. Sadly, no one came to church again this week. We reminded Greg, Alex and Alicia both Saturday night and Sunday morning. And they still didn't show up! It was really frustrating. Especially since only 30 people were at sacrament meeting. I don't think they are truly converted to the Gospel. I don't know if I told you or not, but we are getting a Senior Couple missionary starting June 1st! I'm so excited because they will help a lot with Less active work and also helping strengthen the branch leadership! That will help a lot. We are still working hard to find some more solid people to teach.
Some big news is that we are moving! The Adams (the senior couple) are moving into the apartment that we are currently living in so we found a new place and will be living there. It's great because it is in Morgan City so we don't have to bike into where most of our work is. Plus, it is kinda by the ghetto, so we will be playing more skreetball! Yea skreetball! I'll send you the address as soon as we find out what it is.
I miss and love y'all so much! I'm stoked to hear about all the fun things that everyone does during the summer. I know one of those activities will be writing your favorite missionary... ME! hah But be safe, have fun, and enjoy life my friends.

This week was a really fun week! A member in the branch took us out for crawfish on Tuesday. I learned how to crack them open and suck the juices out of their head! Yummy! Actually, it was really good. I took plenty of pictures so don't worry! Im sending the memory card home this week. This is by far the best memory card. It is very coveted among missionaries here. We also went over to a less active members house and they were eating crab! I was stoked when they asked us to sit down and eat with them. It reminded me of all those family reunions when Uncle Jamie would go buy them. I know Uncle Jamie is probably super jealous right now :) It was a fun time!

Also this week, we were able to sit down with one of our recently acquired investigators and have a lesson with him. We taught him about the Restoration of the Gospel and he loved it! He said this is so remarkable and that everyone should know about this! We jokingly told him that we are trying, people just don't like to listen. But he committed to read and pray and to be baptized on June 2! But that's not all. This past week he stood up and bore his testimony in Fast and Testimony meeting! I was so shocked. It was a very nice testimony about how he has been trying to come closer to God and he feels like this is how he is going to do it.

President Wall also came down to interview Catherine on Sunday. He said she is so ready. She is so sweet and you can't help but to love her! She is being baptized in Chicago because she has a really good friend that introduced her to the Gospel that lives up there, and her friend offered to buy her a plane ticket to come up and be baptized there. So, we got her all ready for baptism and she leaves tomorrow. I'm so happy for her. She is so amazing.

Sadly we did not get to go to the Gator Farm! They were busy and wouldn't show us around. But, today we are going into the roughest part of Morgan City and play basketball with all the gang members and drug dealers! They love us here! hah One guy actually invited us.
I love and miss y'all tons! If anyone out there is looking for something in there life to help them read Alma 37:44-45!

This past week was alright. We got to visit with 3 of our 4 main investigators. Unfortunately, none of them came to church this week! That was a real big let down! I can't remember how much I've told y'all about Katherine. But she is so sweet! I love her. She is getting baptized on May 20 up in Illinois. I'm so stoked for her and amazed at her love for Christ's restored gospel. She was out of town Sunday so that's why she didn't come. But we also saw Alex and Alicia this week quite a bit as well. They are a young unmarried couple that just had a beautiful baby boy! He is about a month old. They have been going through some rough times, it breaks my heart. So, we have been trying to help them out with that. I'm not sure why they didn't come to church, they committed to come when we stopped by Saturday. So, I hope everything is okay.

But another real big let down was at church yesterday. It starts at 9 am. And at 9 am when we were suppose to start, there were only 10 people there including 4 missionaries! We were way sad. But, slowly as Sacrament Meeting went on, people slowly came in. By the end of Sacrament Meeting, we had about 30. Which is still really sad since we have been averaging about 45 these last 3 weeks!

Funny story of the week! We went to go visit this less active guy. But he was asleep, so we were talking to his girlfriend who is Black (Yes, that matters for the story) She is so funny and sweet. She has had heart problems like crazy and the doctors told her that if she doesn't quit smoking she will die! But, she doesn't care, she still smokes all day everyday! That's not the funny part; so she was talking and then all of her grandchildren came up and she said "Dem churn make me want to pull my hair out." and I was like,"Churn?" and she said "Yeah, Churn" and pointed to all the little kids. She was saying "Children" hahahaha I should have known, I'm in the south. I've heard that a couple times and I guess I just have never noticed how funny it is.

A cool fast food miracle! So we went to Taco Bell to freshen' up after a good 'ole beat down in skreetball on all the neighborhood kids in the projects. And I went up to the lady at the register to ask for a water cup. And as she was giving me the water cup she said "Y'all are those guys that go around and give cards to people right?" I said "Yeah! Would you like one?" She gave an enthusiastic "Yes!" I handed her one and was able to talk to her a little about what we do and gave her a Book of Mormon. She seemed excited to read it. So mom the reason why my bank account is rapidly depleting is because all the miracles are happening at fast food places! hah And what kind of missionary would I be if I didn't follow those promptings to go eat there? I guess Heavenly Father is just preparing those kind of people that work there! So remember Churn, follow the promptings of the spirit at fast food places! :)
